Step 1:
Legal & Regulatory Framework

Setting appropriate compliance standards is the first step in establishing the conditions for successful decommissioning. This involves balancing the minimisation of environmental impact against the cost, technical, and health and safety risks of operations.

RESL has extensive experience in assisting regulators in setting suitable standards and guidelines to provide a flexible approach that allows specific project challenges to be managed without additional unnecessary costs. This often has benefits for the operator, the local legislator, and the economy. We also assist operators, partners, service companies and other stakeholders in understanding the Legal and Regulatory framework for decommissioning. Due to our global experience, we offer comparisons between regions and provide recommended best practices from a sound basis of alternatives.

Services include:

  • Asset-specific legal and regulatory reviews
