Steve McBride's Presentation

Steve McBride, RESL Business Development Director, Asia Pacific, delivered a talk on “Optimising Decommissioning & Well Abandonment Strategies.” His presentation delved into the complexities of D&A, exploring the impact of delayed projects, the importance of robust planning, and the need for effective funding strategies. The presentation shed light on the critical issues surrounding D&A and inspired industry-wide change by examining real-world examples and discussing best practices. Thank you to everyone who attended the session and gave an engaging interaction!

Steve also played a vital role as a committee member and session manager, demonstrating our commitment to fostering industry collaboration and knowledge sharing. By actively participating in these key roles, RESL reinforces its position as a valued member of the energy community, actively contributing to its growth and development.

The symposium attracted over 300 attendees from 70+ organisations and 15 countries. The event proved critical for industry members to gather and update on current and future advancements in decommissioning and abandonment.

It was also a great way to end 2024, meeting peers and friends with the same passion for collaboration and future opportunities. RESL is excited to contribute again at the next edition in Perth on 11 – 12 November 2025!
